LinkedIn: how to create an account? - 2021 Account

Linkedin, does this name ring a bell? Your loved ones may use it to "network" and look for work. So why not you? Our advice to get you started.

What is LinkedIn ? This American site, created in 2003 and bought by Microsoft in 2016, has become the first professional network to create and share your CV online . It is a real social network (the 5th largest in France, source Harris Interactive), because beyond displaying users' CVs , the platform has become a place of exchange and sharing . Whether you are looking for a job or not, this is an interesting and serious network where questionable and aggressive comments have no place because anonymity is meaningless .

You can also register for the pleasure of following the professional activities of your relatives or former colleagues or of course to find new professional opportunities by networking.

• How to register on LinkedIn

  1. Go to www.linkedin.com or download the app on iOS or AndroidClick on Register at the top right of the site
  2. Fill in your email or phone number, then choose a strong passwordClick on Accept and register.
  3. On the next page, enter your first and last name, then click Continue. Then take the security test which will verify that you are a real person, then click on Accept and register again.
  4. Then follow the procedure by filling in the requested information. It is important to give the real information in order to use LinkedIn well afterwards. You can then choose which information will be visible to others.
  5. Linkedin will offer you during registration to import the contacts from your address book in order to show you who is registered on the network in your friends. This is not mandatory but can make it easier for you to connect to your contacts.
  6. Linkedin then offers you profiles with which to connect, howeverit is preferable to complete your profile first before starting to network, so you can click on Skip to skip this step.
  7. Then add a recent smiling but professional photo. Profiles with photos are more eye-catching!
  8. The site then offers to receive an SMS on your phone with a link to download the application if you wish. You can skip this step if you are not interested.
  9. Finally, the network offers you to follow companies, people and themes (using hashtags) in order to enrich your experience, you will then see the chosen subjects displayed on your page.
  10. Your LinkedIn account is now created and displayed a bit like on Facebook with your profile, news from your network and a space to write posts and share content (photos, articles, videos, events) that will be displayed on your Wall.
